2024 Windsor-Essex County Joint Black History Month Kick-Off

Join us for Black history highlights and cultural performances. This FREE in-person event will be held at the Caribbean Centre on January 26th at 7pm. All are welcome!

This free event features local Black history highlights, the release of the 2024 Windsor-Essex Black History Month Activity Schedule, music and poetry. Co-hosted by the Essex County Black Historical Research Society, Amherstburg Freedom Museum, and the Windsor West Indian Association.

This FREE event will feature;

  • Artistic performances (poetry, drumming, and song) by local artists
  • Black history highlights showcasing the pre-colonial era; the period of enslavement, resistance, and reconstruction; and the twentieth century to the present.
  • Official release of the 2024 Windsor-Essex County Black History Month Activity
  • Schedule of local Black heritage and cultural events in hard copy
  • Opportunities for local organizations to network and share their excitement about all
    the activities planned for Black History Month 2024
