The evening’s program will be hosted by AFM Director Dr. Brenda McCurdy and will feature The New Life Fellowship Praise Team with Musical Director Steve Riley and Renee King-Jackson with additional performances from Brett Logan and Black Kids in Action. Amherstburg Freedom Museum is hiring. We are hiring (1) Museum Cataloguer position. In order to apply applicants must meet eligibility requirements set by Canada Summer Jobs, and have reliable transportation to the museum.

The deadline to apply is December 7, 2020. Preference will be given to members of a visible minority and fluent in both official languages, but all applicants will be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Interested candidates should e-mail a cover letter and resume to curator@amherstburgfreedom.org.

Canada Summer Jobs eligibility requirements:

CSJ 2020 includes new expanded eligibility to include all youth aged 15 to 30, which means youth who are not students are now also eligible

  • Applicant must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Applicant must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
  • Applicant must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
  • International students are not eligible participants. International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.

Amherstburg Freeedom Museum Re-Opening July 28th

The Amherstburg Freedom Museum re-opened on Tuesday July 28th, 2020. Tours will be by appointment ONLY.

Please call the museum at 519-736-5433 to book your appointment during our regular operating hours. More information about our new protocols can be found here!

Please note: Mask wearing is mandatory, but exceptions can be made following orders from the Windsor Essex County Health Unit. Which includes children under five, those experiencing breathing issues, those who cannot safely wear a face covering due to medical reasons, and for religious reasons.

We have re-opened as of July 28th, and we can’t wait for you to visit!
