Referring to decades of scholarship regarding the Underground Railroad, this presentation will dispel some of the common myths that have shaped many North Americans’ understanding of what the Underground Railroad was, its significance, how it operated, who was involved, and Canada’s role. Special emphasis will be placed on the stories of freedom seekers who made Windsor-Essex their home.
